Township of Langley

The Township of Langley is located in the southwest corner of the province of British Columbia, Canada. The municipality has a land mass of 316 square kilometers (122 square miles) and a population of approximately 100,000.

In terms of standard Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification, most of the Township of Langley, other than the southern portion comprising the Campbell River Valley, is located within the very dry maritime variant of the Coastal Western Hemlock (CWH) subzone.

The Township has many areas that were cleared by early settlers for farmland. In doing so, vast expanses were never re-planted with long lived trees. Many areas of shrub or low cover dominated ecosystems currently exist across the township. Predominant on many of these sites is the extremely invasive non-native species, Himalayan blackberry. These areas are generally prime and readily accessible sites for reforestation.

In 2007 ERA won the bid for the development of degraded municipal lands within the Township of Langley (ToL).
